What's new
officebit is growing all the time. Here's what's changed in town lately, newest first.
0.7 Β·
- Three more games on the arcade machines: Space Rocks, Bubble Blaster and Cross the Road.
- Find it: the noticeboard on the Green asks you to find someone out and about in town. Can you spot them?
- Catch!: by the ball tub on the Green, a friend throws and you run to catch.
- Livelier when they're standing about: people potter a few steps, glance round and check their phones, take turns in a chat, and sip a cuppa at the table.
0.6 Β·
- The arcade machines work: step up and play Caterpillar or Brick Bash.
- Parcel Dash: find the signpost by the parcel depot, then drive the van round town delivering parcels.
- Time lives in the clock: tap it to switch between Live and Sandbox, with the speeds and jumping ahead in Sandbox. Pause Live and play again, and it whizzes back to now.
- Jumping ahead is far quicker: next Monday in a couple of seconds rather than twenty. The town runs a good deal faster all round, too.
0.5.1 Β·
- Three parcel vans, with Rio and Tam driving alongside Kit.
0.5 Β·
- A new town, with a river, a retail park above the highway and room to grow. Your town moves onto it, people, homes and all.
- A leisure centre with a pool and a gym.
- Two airfields and a little plane between them, flown by Jo. Draw another and it joins the round.
- Some people drive their own cars.
- A parcel van brings parcels to people's homes.
- Cars wait for a gap before crossing or joining the highway.
- Put up new buildings in the editor: homes, shops, offices and more, which take people on.
- Drawing in the editor: hedges, fences and flowers in rows, pavements of their own, loops and circles, and hold Space to move the map.
- Coming back is quicker: your town picks up where it left off.
0.4 Β·
- officebit has a home of its own: officebit.town, with the town right on the front page.
- Buses! Eight stops round town, by the office, the shop, the school and people's homes, running both ways (stopping on either side of the road): hourly and a night bus too. Hop on to get across town, or walk if you'd rather. Add your own stops in the editor.
- Billboards by the highway and a poster at the bus stop, in glorious pixels. Tap one to see what it's for.
- Already have a town? Crews come to put up what's new, like the billboards. Nothing of yours gets moved.
- New here? A little welcome, and a ? to find it again.
- Jumping ahead is much quicker: a hundred days in under two minutes.
- Tidier roads: kerbs round the ends of closes, and cars that keep to the road and to their own lane, go round turning circles and give way at junctions.
- Steering someone? Tap a door, the stairs or a building and they go through.
- A tidier map editor: road, path, forecourt, water, beaches, zebra crossings and grass share one button (hover over it, or press and hold, for the others), Esc puts things away, and edits save themselves as you go.
- Name your town, from the cog: it shows at the top, so you know it's yours when you come back.
- Add someone to the team from the People tab: they get a desk and a house of their own, and walk into town.
- Take a tour, from the welcome card: a few quick steps to meet someone, take the controls and shape your town.
- Weather! Grey days, rain and the odd snowfall in winter, when the town stays in more: fewer picnics, more evenings indoors.
- Birthdays! A party hat, a cheerier day, and a cake brought in for everyone to share. Change anyone's birthday from their profile.
- The River Dove runs along the bottom of town, with a footbridge, a little beach for a swim on summer days, and a boating club: friends take the sailing boats out, anyone fancying a row takes a rowing boat, and Fen lives on a narrowboat moored on the bank. Draw your own rivers and ponds in the editor: a road or path across water becomes a bridge.
- The Corner Shop gets its supplies every Monday morning: a delivery lorry pulls up outside, hazards blinking, and unloads.
- The diner and the shop open on time: staff no longer dither on the way in.
0.3 Β·
- Friends make plans: frisbee and picnics on the Green, catching up at the diner, or a meal for three or four round one table.
- Co-founders get their laptops out together, in a diner booth or on a park bench.
- Startups can have good weeks and bad ones. They hire when they're doing well, and some close. Their people go back to their old jobs, or try again.
- Cars come in off any road for a drive round town, not just to stop and charge.
- Food trucks drive into town from any road and pull up by the pavement.
- People give way to each other and step aside to pass. No more walking through each other.
- Spot a friend across the street? People hurry to catch them up for a chat.
- A quicker town: bigger towns run smoothly, ready for more people to move in.
- Play full screen, or add officebit to your home screen as an app.
0.2 Β·
- The sun rises and sets for the real date, where you are.
- Christmas trees and fairy lights, New Year's fireworks, Bonfire Night, Halloween and the bank holidays.
- Edit anyone from their profile: their look, name, personality and job. You can even give them a baby.
0.1 Β·
